Vice President of Labor and Employment
Job Description

We are currently seeking a Labor and Employment attorney to join the corporate Legal Department for our eastern region (encompassing Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) as Vice President, Labor and Employment. The position will report to the company’s Deputy General Counsel and will work closely with the company’s Human Resources professionals at corporate headquarters and at the company’s casino properties in the eastern region. The attorney will also be responsible for managing and supervising outside counsel in the various jurisdictions where the company does business for all employment matters, labor relations, union negotiations and disputes, and litigation.
Job Duties And Responsibilities

- Provide high quality, prompt, and practical legal advice to company executives and HR professionals at corporate headquarters and casino locations relating to labor and employment issues, such as human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment, labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, employee benefits, employment agreements, and policy related issues
- Provide advice to the company executives and HR professionals relating to compliance with applicable laws, including NLRA, OSHA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, and similar state laws
- Provide advice and counsel on labor union issues, including collective bargaining, union disputes, unfair labor practice charges, and union grievances and arbitrations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal employment and labor laws
- Assist with the development and enforcement of company labor and employment related policies, directives, and procedures
- Counsel and train the company’s HR professionals on pending and new labor and employment laws, rules and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and industry trends that may impact the company and its operations
- Assist with drafting and reviewing certain employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, collective bargaining agreements, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, and separation agreements
- Collaborate with Human Resources to conduct or manage internal investigations, develop investigation plans, interview witnesses, and assess and document findings
- Represent the Company at arbitrations, mediations, state and federal fact-finding hearings, wage and hour hearings, NLRB hearings, OSHA investigations, and other labor-related state and federal administrative matters.
- Handle pre-litigation demand letters and agency charges received from current and former employees and/or their counsel
- Receive and respond to EEOC (or similar state) Charges, conduct investigations, prepare position statements, and represent company at administrative level
- Supervise and manage outside counsel on employment related matters, including litigation
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- JD from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
- Active license to practice law (no specific state required, but state where a Caesars property is located preferred)
- Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated work experience in employment and labor law with hands-on, practical experience in counseling clients, conducting training, handling significant employment litigation, and engaging in collective bargaining and other labor-related matters
- Highly developed written and oral communications skills, with the ability to clearly articulate recommendations and options about complex legal issues
- Self-starter with good business sense and a sense of urgency, honesty, and fairness
- Good team player who can remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of independence, proactively identify potential legal and business risks, balance multiple business demands, and work collaboratively with colleagues in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to travel
