SUMMARY: Cornerstone Search Group has been retained by a long-term client (a profitable, public, commercial-stage rare disease pharma) to identify an experienced pharmaceutical industry lawyer to lead their growing US legal department (multiple reports). This New Jersey-based hybrid position will report to the US President, sit on the Executive Leadership Team, manage JDs and non-JDs in this growing department, and strategically advise/counsel on the full-range of US and global company activities from drug development through to commercialization on matters involving sales & marketing, contracting (e.g., for clinical development activities), securities, M&A, employment law, IP, etc.

TITLE: VP, Legal – US
LOCATION/RELOCATION: Our client’s convenient location in North/Central New Jersey is not only accessible to New Jersey residents, but also within driving distance for residents of NYC, NY State, and Pennsylvania. Our client seeks someone who will work on-site 2-3 days per week and whose primary residence is within driving distance of their office. Our client can provide relocation funds for those willing to move to this area and make it their primary residence. This a pretty area of New Jersey that is in the heart of the state’s “Pharmaceutical Corridor” and nearby to multiple towns with excellent public school districts and many top private schools.
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- JD who is licensed and in good standing to practice law in New Jersey or eligible for a limited certificate of admission to practice in New Jersey
- 15+ years of pharma/biotech legal experience that can include a combination of in-house and law firm experience, but must include a significant amount of recent in-house pharma/biotech experience.
- Significant experience with Commercial-related pharma/biotech (not generic) legal matters
- Rare disease experience is a plus but not required
- People management experience is desired.
- Seeking someone with a “can do” proactive orientation, business strategy acumen, leadership skills, and high EQ
