Interim VP of Legal Affairs - Litigation & Information Management
Job Description:
Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking an an Interim VP of Legal Affairs - Litigation & Information Management for a publicly-traded health & fitness club franchisor. The role is remote with a preference for CA-based candidates.
Overview:
Our client is seeking an interim VP of Legal Affairs - Litigation & Information Management primarily to direct outside counsel in a host of ongoing litigation matters.
Company:
Publicly-traded worldwide franchisor of fitness clubs and classes.
Experience:
10+ years of litigation, litigation management, and/or government enforcement experience. Some general commercial and/or data privacy experience a plus.
Location:
Client is located in Orange County, CA. The role is remote, but with a preference for CA-based candidates as the candidate may be converted to a permanent hybrid hire.
Responsibilities Include:
- In coordination with outside counsel, effectively manage, negotiate and resolve pre-litigation claims.
- In coordination with outside counsel, oversee active arbitrations and litigation to optimal outcome.
- Analyze and advise on discovery and e-discovery policies and procedures.
- Manage information and document retention policies and practices to comply with all applicable laws.
- Perform contractual indemnity analyses.
- Continuously improve terms and conditions, privacy policy and marketing compliance policies.
- Manage service of process intake and issue litigation holds where appropriate.
- Prepare cease & desist letters, perform legal research and draft legal memoranda.
Qualifications Include:
- JD & admission to a state bar.
- 10+ years of experience weighted towards litigation.
- Ideally a mix of law firm, governmental and/or in-house work.
- White collar defense / gov’t enforcement experience a plus.
- Candidates from AmLaw 100 firms preferred.
Compensation:
$100-$110 per hour
