Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Senior Manager, Payer Relations

Purpose:

The Contracts Manger is responsible for payer contracting functions including, but not limited to the accurate completion and maintenance of pharmacy credentialing with PBMs and health plans; negotiating reimbursement rates for new therapies; contract review and administration; managing payer relationships; and resolving reimbursement issues as they relate to the contract terms. This role frequently collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and business partners, often working directly with payer representatives on the administration of agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews rate proposals for new therapies, assists with the development of pricing strategy, and supports contract compliance efforts.
  • Achieves operational objectives in accordance with overall organizational needs and budgeted targets.
  • Evaluates and interprets PBM and payor contract terms while identifying areas of risk and negotiating revisions. 
  • Leads negotiations and the finalization of contracts to ensure no business disruption. 
  • Participates in the overall approach to building strategic and long-lasting business partnerships.
  • Maintains regular contact and business relationships with the Trade team, Implementation Managers and clients to optimize new product launches.
  • Addresses client inquiries and resolves issues promptly while ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Collaborates regularly with Finance and Reimbursement teams to resolve underpayments and other reimbursement issues.
  • Tracks engagement activities in CRM.
  • Maintains and updates tracking tools.
  • Collaborates with the team to analyze current contracting processes and implements strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
  • Collaborates with the team to develop best practices and procedures for contract management.
  • Remains informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics to proactively adjust contract strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in contract management, preferably within specialty pharmacy or healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with internal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and bring projects to completion.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with strong problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or minimum of 4 years of experience in specialty pharmacy contracting experience.
  • Health care industry or progressive experience in a health care organization.
  • Managed Care contracting experience.
  • Familiarity with PBM and payor systems and reimbursement models.
