Head of Legal (Tech)

Job Description:

My client is seeking an experienced Head of Legal to oversee all legal matters across the United States and Canada. This strategic leadership role involves managing legal compliance, mitigating legal risks, providing legal advice to support business objectives, and leading a high-performing legal team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned legal professional with deep expertise in commercial and transactional law, litigation management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead legal strategy for North America, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
• Manage and negotiate commercial agreements, ensuring they align with business goals and legal risk tolerance.
• Oversee litigation and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian laws, design and implement risk management programs.
• Provide legal guidance on labor matters.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support business objectives.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing legal teams.
• Experience in labor and employment law, particularly in the e-commerce industry, is preferred.
• In-house legal experience within a multinational corporation is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing legal matters in Canada is a plus.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin to effectively communicate with global stakeholders.
