Job Description: Senior Contracts Manager - Data Center Design, Engineering and Construction

Overview:  

We are seeking a highly engaged and experienced team player for a senior role in our Data Center Design, Engineering, and Construction (DEC) organization. As a Senior Contracts Manager, you will report to a Lead Contracts Manager and be responsible for delivering functional programs within a larger regional team. This role requires close collaboration with Contracts Program leadership and various organizational levels to optimize contract value and minimize risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a minimum of 10 years transactional construction contracting or litigation, with a deep understanding of risk management, contract law, and dispute resolution.  

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and optimize Construction, Engineering, and Professional Services Contracts.  
  • Develop, review, negotiate, and execute contracts on behalf of the owner.  
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Construction Management, and Project Controls.  
  • Identify and implement process improvements for contract management efficiency.  
  • Support the development of workforce strategies and contractor performance evaluations.  
  • Engage with global stakeholders across regions and time zones.  
  • Develop and implement contract management tools, playbooks, and review processes.  
  • Ensure compliance with deal-to-contract policies and control frameworks.  
  • Manage risk and supplier relationships effectively.  
  • Coordinate resolutions for business issues with legal and leadership teams.  
  • Serve as a point of contact for contract inquiries and provide guidance on deal structuring.  
  • Ensure signed contracts are complete, clear, and properly communicated.  
  • Conduct training and share best practices to enhance contract management efficiency.  
  • Liaise with Project Controls, Construction Managers, and general contractors to enforce contracts.  
  • Partner with Contracts Program leadership to define KPIs for business reviews.  
  • Lead contract dispute resolution efforts and provide strategic recommendations for claims mitigation.  
  • Provide expert guidance on complex construction contracting issues and litigation strategies.  

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 10+ years of experience in transactional construction contracting or litigation, with a strong emphasis on contract negotiation and dispute resolution.  
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Legal Studies (JD), Business Administration, English, Engineering, or Construction Administration.  
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Tasks) and electronic signing tools (e.g., Adobe Sign).  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience with SAP, SRM, BW Reporting, or equivalent systems.  
  • Strong financial acumen and attention to detail.  
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions.  
  • Experience in construction and/or data center operations.  
  • Familiarity with GMP contract delivery methods.  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.  
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with experience leading multi-stakeholder projects.  
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and make decisions with limited information.  
  • Experience managing various contract types, clauses, and business records.  
  • Expertise in process development and continuous improvement in contract management.  
  • Background in litigation or claims management within the construction industry.
