Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Sr. Compliance Specialist to work for an aerospace client based in California. This is a fully onsite role in Irvine, CA - PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE OR ARE OPEN TO RELOCATION TO IRVINE, CA.

The Sr. Compliance Specialist works in the International Trade Compliance Department ("ITCD") to provide comprehensive and proactive export controls and import support -- particularly to the engineering departments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Routinely review and classify technologies subject to the EAR
  • Coordinate with engineers regarding said classification; advise engineers and other partners on various export controls matters
  • Routinely update the Head of the ITCD on current and potential export controls matters/issues
  • Flag issues and raise to the rest of the ITCD
  • Review purchase requisitions and purchase orders to identify potential export and/or import risks, coordinate and collect supplier export classification information, and pro-actively find solutions to potential issues
  • Review EEI checklists; develop and submit EEIs
  • Assist as needed with general export compliance training, briefings, and required processes
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of guidance documents, export controls manual, technology control plans, and other policy and/or process documents
  • Perform first review and coordination to complete end user certificates, classification requests, IT access requests for non-US persons, and other export controls analysis
  • Maintain auditable records of all documents pertaining to import and export
  • Be responsible for export license compliance, ensuring company entities follow the regulatory and license conditions placed on approved licenses
  • May require up to 10% of domestic and international travel

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in various aspects of export controls work
  • Deep understanding of EAR regulations as it pertains to commercial export / provision of technology 
  • Experience working directly with Licensing Officers 
  • Experience with compliance analysis of import controls
