Head of Legal
VR Sweden (former Arriva) has been part of VR Group since July 2022, operating in the field of public passenger transportation. VR Sweden have rail and bus traffic on the national train network, local railways, and trams in Stockholm, Östergötland and Skåne, employing app. 3 000 employees.
With a strong growth strategy aiming to be a major leader in public transport, VR is investing heavily in the business to continue growth and profitability in the Swedish market. The key is to win more contracts for public procured transport.
VR Sweden is now building internal legal capacity by recruiting a Head of Legal Sweden, that will have a strong influence on VR's further success.
About the role
You will be overall responsible for legal in Sweden supporting the business in the public transport procurement processes with strong focus on risk assessment and evaluation. Further you will support in day-to-day legal matters, as well as contract management/commercial agreements. You will work closely with the Swedish Management team, business organization and bid team contributing to VR Sweden's further growth.
You will be part of VR Group's Legal Team and report to the General Counsel, with a dotted line to General Manager Sweden, and part of the Swedish Management Team.
Key tasks
- Tendering
- in public tendering processes and the preparation of tenders
- contract and other tender documentation
- assessment and evaluation
- in contract negotiations, and further re-negotiations during contract period
- up to date with relevant laws and regulations
- internal processes of tendering
- legal support to the business and management
- Agreements (sub-contracting) etc.
- Management
- support for the Long Distance business in Sweden (currently MTRX) recently acquired by VR Group (closing not yet taken place)
- support in governance e.g. Compliance, GDPR/Data Protection, IPR/Trademarks in collaboration with Group Legal team.
You have:
- Law Degree.
- experience from a relevant legal role, as a corporate in-house lawyer and/or in a law firm.
- Expertise in tendering processes and public procurement legislation, governance, and compliance.
- in Contract Management (negotiating, drafting, reviewing).
- in Swedish and English.
You have a good analytical ability and can shift between strategic agenda and zoom into details. You have a strong will to achieve set goals, take initiatives and work with endurance both strategically and hands-on with own deliveries. You are good at building relationships and credibility across the organisation as the legal expert.
The position is based at VR Sweden's office in Nacka.
