Summary
The E-Discovery Advisor is responsible for managing multiple projects through the electronic discovery lifecycle. This person will work with case teams on all aspects of the electronic discovery process, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of electronically stored information.
Responsibilities
- Working alongside case teams to manage and plan e-discovery projects, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of electronic documents and paper documents. Specific duties include:
- Preparing recommendations, budgets, and project plans
- Communicating with case teams and management on project status, including electronic documents management issues, budget status, and production planning
- Coordinating production including electronic documents of to outside parties
- Tracking including electronic documents that is received, loaded, and produced
- Ensuring quality of imported and exported including electronic documents
- Maintaining and supporting use of e-discovery and case management systems
- Consulting with case teams regarding best practices for electronic discovery, and implementing those best practices, including: Employing standard workflows for all aspects of the e-discovery process and customizing those workflows as necessary given the unique requirements of each case
- Leveraging advanced technology towards achieving client goals throughout the litigation life cycle.
- Advising on current practices in light of case law and rulemaking and how to apply those practices to each case
- Assisting lawyers with Rule 26(f) conferences and other "meet and confers" related to e-discovery topics
- Working with lawyers and clients to identify potentially relevant data through client IT and custodian interviews
- Coordinating work of outside e-discovery vendors, including:
- Advising and recommending vendor selection and coordinating vendor contact and relations
- Initiating, negotiating, overseeing, and coordinating vendor work
- Maintaining detailed familiarity with vendor platforms and providing support to case teams utilizing those platforms
- Documenting project details in the applicable tracking systems
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the e-discovery process, including evolving case law standards and rules, industry trends, and e-discovery/litigation support services and technologies
- Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientation
- Skilled at meeting strict deadlines under significant time constraints
- Superior communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- A commitment to deliver the highest quality service to internal and external customers
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Juris Doctor and litigation practice experience helpful
- At least four years' experience with managing e-discovery projects
- Extensive experience with software and hardware used in e-discovery; specific experience with Relativity is helpful
- This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance in accordance with the schedule set forth by the department. A hybrid schedule is an essential function of this role.
- Ability to engage in off-site travel as required to meet job demands and firm needs.
- Required to monitor and respond to email and phone calls after hours and weekends
Compensation
$150,000 to $165,000
