Subject to the approval of the Arizona Supreme Court, KPMG Law US, a subsidiary of KPMG US, is expected to provide a focused set of integrated business solutions for legal teams, adding to the global capabilities of KPMG Law. KPMG Law US will provide legal managed services, global entity management, outbound legal project management support, and legal transformation solutions. KPMG Law US is expected to primarily deliver large-scale, process-driven work, such as volume contracting, remediation exercises, M&A-driven harmonization of contracts, and other legal managed services.
KPMG Law US is uniquely positioned to deliver innovative services at scale, enabled by our significant technology platforms and investments. KPMG Law US will provide services by leveraging technology and the cloud-based and generative AI enabled Digital Gateway platform to unlock insights and drive quality. KPMG Law US will leverage our global network's experience and capabilities, coordinating with KPMG legal business services around the globe to support clients. KPMG Law's global network has more than 3,750 professionals across more than 80 jurisdictions. KPMG is currently seeking a Director, KPMG Law to join ourpractice.
Responsibilities:
- Embrace a client facing role working with both US and Global teams to embrace opportunities as well as drive efficiencies and continuously improve engagement delivery; develop and maintain relationships with external clients, vendors, and other external stakeholders; lead KPMG Law US practice staff
- Manage projects across the contract lifecycle, including contract review, drafting, repapering, and playbook enabled negotiation, as well as tech-enabled document review, data extraction, and analysis
- Leverage contract lifecycle management technologies to deliver in accordance with both quantitative (such as contract request turnaround time) and qualitative (such as contract review and drafting accuracy) key performance indicators
- Review, abstract, draft, redline, negotiate a broad range of commercial contractual agreements, including but not limited to NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, licensing agreements, Software as a Service Agreements, distributions agreements, data protection agreements, marketing agreements, and sponsorship agreements
- Delivery of the above activities in accordance with agreed upon key performance indicators tracking speed, efficiency, and accuracy; build, review, update and escalate agreements, as needed, per the contract negotiation playbook
- Monitor developments in the legal and regulatory environment to ensure contracts remain compliant; provide legal guidance to internal and external stakeholders in relation to technology and managed services contracts
Qualifications:
- Minimum eight years of recent experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and managing general commercial contractual agreements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; licensed Juris Doctorate or LLM degree from an accredited college/university (active bar license in Arizona)
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and the ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage assignments in a team environment
- Strong substantive understanding of general commercial contracts and agreements and the key clauses typically found in these agreements, for example, limitation of liability, indemnification, warranties, termination, etc.
- Excellent Microsoft Office and other technology skills including, ContractPodAI, Alteryx, and Power BI; familiarity with emerging technologies and their application in managed legal services
- Ability to develop and deepen client relationships and expand the KPMG Law US footprint in the local and global markets while working with both U.S. and non-U.S. KPMG teams to bring the right services to new and existing clients; demonstrated experience in sales and business development
