Job Description:

  • Develop and implement strategies for protecting the company's intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice on all matters related to intellectual property, including licensing, infringement, and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize patentable inventions and ensure timely and effective filing of patent applications.
  • Stay current on developments in intellectual property law and industry trends to provide strategic guidance and identify potential risks or opportunities.
  • Review and negotiate IP-related contracts, agreements, and licenses.
  • Conduct due diligence for potential M&A and licensing opportunities, providing insight and recommendations on intellectual property matters.
  • Advise on the intellectual property implications of business decisions and help develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to effectively manage and protect the company's intellectual property.
  • Manage and oversee the company's IP portfolio, including monitoring and enforcing IP rights, conducting risk assessments, and identifying potential areas for improvement or expansion.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings related to intellectual property, including litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to intellectual property.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide training and education on intellectual property matters to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Continually assess and improve internal processes and procedures related to intellectual property to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Salary Range:

$135-$235k

Qualifications

  • Experience: The successful candidate will have 10+ years of relevant IP law experience, including experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in hardware in the US and internationally, patent litigation, and IPR.
  • A B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science is required, preference for candidates who have experience with Battery Sciences.
  • Location: Candidates should be available to work 2+ days a week from Fremont, California or Remote but willing to work west coast hours.
