Role Summary
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for providing legal and administrative support to the company's in-house lawyers. This position primarily will support the preparation, negotiation and administration of commercial agreements, vendor agreements and other contracts that help the company deliver consumer energy solutions. This position also will manage legal requests through the company's new matter intake and matter management systems, manage the company's document repository system for commercial agreements, and proactively manage deadlines associated with contracts and regulatory compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will work well independently and within a team, and they will play an integral role in the Legal Department.
This role is remote but candidates must be based on the West Coast, and we have a strong preference for someone based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area. Some domestic travel will be required for this position.
What You Will Do
- Prepare commercial agreements and other contracts from templates using contract wizards in Renew Home's contract lifecycle management system, and/or as directed by in-house lawyers and by applying negotiation playbooks for standard form contracts
- Prepare and revise other legal documents and correspondence as directed by in-house lawyers
- Perform basic risk analysis of commercial and liability provisions, and identify potential risks related to legal, business, and regulatory issues and work with relevant stakeholders to develop solutions to address them
- Assist with administration of commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements
- Maintain and revise template forms and agreements, and maintain corporate documents and company policies
- Track active legal matters and projects and support the company's in-house lawyers with proactively managing deadlines associated with contracts and regulatory compliance requirements
- Manage implementation of the company's new matter intake and matter management systems for legal requests, as well as the company's document repository system for all commercial agreements
- Ensure that timely notice is given of renewals, terminations, and other critical contract-related events and lifecycle deadlines
- Manage e-signature process for commercial agreements and other legal documents in accordance with the company's signature authority policy
- Ensure timely compliance with registration and other filings for all corporate entities of the company
- Support trainings delivered by in-house lawyers
- Work with other departments and teams to ensure cross-functional alignment
- Assist with special projects as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of contracts management and paralegal experience; at least two years in a law firm practice and at least one year in-house legal department experience preferred
- Experience in a high-growth environment and with smart home or clean energy products or services preferred
- Excellent drafting and editing skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail
- Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of contract lifecycle management systems and related legal technology tools, experience conducting legal research using tools such as Practical Law, as well as fluency with Google Workspace, Adobe and Microsoft Office suites
- Demonstrated ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks with speed and accuracy under minimal supervision
- Ability to quickly understand the business and prioritize tasks and projects based on business objectives and operations
- Flexibility to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment
