Contract Manager
Job Description:
Our client, a biotechnology firm, is hiring a Contracts Manager to join their team beginning on a temporary basis. The Contracts Manager will provide support to the in-house legal department and will work closely with attorneys and paralegals to ensure the smooth operation of legal functions. Previous experience in the life sciences industry is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Establish, manage, and update regional and global contract templates in collaboration with attorneys, external parties, and client groups.
- Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including clinical trial agreements, manufacturing agreements, license agreements, material transfer agreements, sponsored research agreements, supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and joint development agreements.
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
- Assist in the organization, filing, and maintenance of legal documents and contracts. Ensure that all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Maintain and update legal databases, track contract status, to-do list items, generate reports, and improve contract workflows and processes.
- Correspondence: Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between the legal department and other company departments as necessary.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Assist Executive Assistants with tasks as requested and collaborate on other special projects as needed.
- Perform all activities in compliance with applicable regulations, policies and guidelines, including, but not limited to, timely documentation of activities and maintaining all required applicable training.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in relevant legal frameworks.
- Bring a “can do” spirit to work and deliver on other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (law degree helpful) and 3-7 years negotiating contracts in a biotech environment.
- Experience with commercial agreements is a plus.
- Strong personal management skills emphasizing time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of legal terminology and principles.
- Sound judgement and ability to quickly analyze different sources of information.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Highly organized and detail oriented with a passion to deliver quality results.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
