About The Role
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for providing legal and administrative support to the in-house legal team. This role primarily focuses on the preparation, negotiation, and administration of commercial agreements, vendor contracts, and other agreements that facilitate the delivery of consumer energy solutions.
Additionally, the position will manage legal requests through a new matter intake and management system, oversee the document repository for commercial agreements, and proactively manage deadlines related to contracts and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and collaboratively, contributing significantly to the Legal Department.
What You Will Do
- Draft and revise other legal documents and correspondence as needed.
- Assist with the administration of commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements.
- Ensure timely compliance with registrations and other filings for all corporate entities.
- Support training sessions delivered by the in-house legal team.
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain cross-functional alignment.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Track active legal matters and projects to support the in-house legal team with deadline management for contracts and regulatory compliance.
- Implement the new matter intake and management system for legal requests, and manage the document repository for all commercial agreements.
- Ensure timely notification for renewals, terminations, and other key contract-related events and deadlines.
- Prepare commercial agreements and other contracts using templates and contract wizards within the contract lifecycle management system, as directed by in-house lawyers and by applying negotiation strategies for standard forms.
- Conduct basic risk analysis of commercial and liability clauses, identifying potential risks linked to legal, business, and regulatory issues, while working with stakeholders to craft solutions.
- Manage the e-signature process for commercial agreements and other legal documents in adherence to the organization’s signature authority policy.
- Maintain and update template forms and agreements, as well as oversee corporate documents and company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of experience in contracts management and paralegal work; a minimum of two years in a law firm setting and at least one year in an in-house legal environment preferred.
- Experience in a high-growth sector, and familiarity with smart home or clean energy products/services preferred.
- Excellent drafting and editing capabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contract lifecycle management systems and legal technology tools, experience with legal research tools such as Practical Law, and proficiency in Google Workspace, Adobe, and Microsoft Office suites.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
- Demonstrated capability to execute tasks efficiently and accurately under minimal supervision.
- Ability to quickly grasp the business model and effectively prioritize tasks based on business goals and operations.
- Flexibility to adapt priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.

This role is remote, but candidates must be located on the West Coast, with a strong preference for those based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area. Some domestic travel may be required.
