Job Overview
Be an essential member of professional team dedicated to improving legal department’s full range of client services to business. Coordinate and ensure accurate tracking of all legal process served on company to minimize risk and avoid default judgments. Own and optimize processes for managing outside legal spend and streamlining matter management and litigation case assignments, including entering and closing matters in legal matter management and billing system (Legal Tracker).
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the intake of service of legal process and ensure that all legal documents served on MBUSA are appropriately and timely assigned for efficient handling.
- Ensure all new matters, including lawsuits, pre-litigation claims, subpoenas, etc. are accurately entered into the matter management system (Legal Tracker).
- Review all information contained in Legal Tracker to ensure each legal file is complete and accurate, including attorney assignment, critical documents, and case budget with appropriate accounting allocation set up.
- Accurately and timely set up new law firm vendors in Legal Tracker.
- Develop and improve dashboard of all outside legal spend as well as open, settled, dismissed and otherwise completed matters.
- Prepare and/or collect documents needed in response to litigation discovery requests and prepare information to be provided to outside counsel and/or internal business partners in connection with the defense of legal matters. Create and manage database(s) related to litigation discovery.
- Draft documents and business communications in connection with above tasks.
- Maintain calendar of all relevant deadlines for all matters and provide updates on a weekly basis on upcoming deadlines and important case developments as needed.
- Manage licensing efforts regarding business licenses in various states, including management of the deadlines for license renewals and the paperwork associated with same.
- Perform annual Internal Control Testing for litigation.
- Ensure accurate and timely handling of financial transactions related to legal department such as settlement check requests, chargebacks to business partners, and accurate establishment of new legal department vendors.
- Lead projects that impact the legal department such as the creation of supplier documents, attention to necessary reporting, creating business minutes, manage payment or other invoicing topics, schedule matters, and manage other business logistics items.
- Create and provide actionable legal analytics for use by MBUSA and the legal team utilizing the company’s available software and matter management systems.
- Perform all tasks accurately and timely.
Qualifikationen
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience with configuring matters in Matter Management Systems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Comfort with and ability to efficiently leverage office technology, software, and databases
- Willingness to incorporate and adapt to new workplace technologies
- Experience and knowledge of litigation costs, legal billing and related accounting concepts
- Ability to work with technical and/or international colleagues
- Product interest and knowledge (or willingness to learn about MBUSA’s product technical specifications)
- Ability to work in person in Sandy Springs, Ga.
- At least seven or more years of relevant education and work experience in a corporate law department, law firm, or equivalent is required.
- A paralegal certificate or certification is preferred but not required
