Office Specialist, Chief Legal Officer
Under general supervision, provides project management and support to ensure the coordination for all business operations within the Office of the Chief, or Deputy Superintendent is in the best interest of the DeKalb County School District. Serves as the liaison between internal/external departments and contacts for the department. The work performed by the individual in this job is confidential in nature.
Essential Functions

- Facilitates project management and coordinates projects and events that require senior staff participation.
- Prepares rough and final drafts of correspondence and/or reports of highly confidential nature. Draft dictated responses to senior staff’s personal emails, and letters requiring personal attention. Proof and edit correspondence written by senior staff.
- Provides high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence.
- Responds to telephone inquiries and directs callers to appropriate department and/or staff member for input or assistance.
- Follows up to ensure that action has been taken according to operational procedures.
- Reads and analyze incoming memos, submissions, and reports to determine their significance and plan their distribution.
- Develops invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements, and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software
- Maintains and monitors departmental processes, policies and procedures as it relates to the respective department to ensure that all are within the District’s guidelines.
- Schedules internal and external meetings with individuals/organizations and creates documents and/or obtains detailed information related to the meeting request. Follows up with appropriate department to request briefing materials for the senior staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education And/Or Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in executive-level office management required.
