Job Title: VP Legal

My client is a major aircraft leasing firm in Stamford that is recruiting for a VP Legal. This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious aircraft lessor.

Responsibilities:

• Lead negotiations with airlines, financial institutions, aircraft buyers, sellers, manufacturers, and maintenance providers.
• Coordinate input from technical, credit, finance, and origination teams to support transaction negotiations and documentation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of transaction-related documents, including sale and lease agreements, lease amendments, side letters, and insurance documents.
• Oversee financial arrangements, including recourse and non-recourse loans, ensuring proper closure and maintenance of financing/refinancing facilities with banks and external counsel.
• Handle legal agreements related to maintenance, confidentiality, IT, and general contracts.
• Manage airline defaults, aircraft repossessions, disputes, and litigation.
• Monitor international legal developments impacting aviation leasing.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, SEC, and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Licensed attorney in New York
• 4 + years of international legal experience within the aviation leasing sector
• Prior experience with an aircraft lessor, operator, manufacturer, or in a top-tier law firm specializing in aircraft leasing and financing
